The Opportunity:
The primary function of the Information & Referral Database Specialist is to develop and market an in-depth community resource guide for Health and Human Services in Forsyth County. The resource guide will be a companion to the Community Helplist published by UWFC.
What you'll do:
- Develop and maintain resource information through formal verifications and daily updates and/or maintenance.
- Assess gaps/needs of the database, assess programs that need/should be in the database
- Coordinate and implement technical assistance and training for agency programs on database updates and verification process
- Implement program strategies to ensure that database meets all resource standards.
- Maintain data integrity, protocols, guidelines, and maintenance plans.
- Update referral guides, specialized resource guides, and other materials.
- Develop a plan for promotion, distribution and communicating those updates to staff, external partners and other stakeholders.
- Provide customer support to both internal staff and external organizations that may include the development of specialized resource lists, mailing labels, etc.
- Generate accurate monthly analytical reports for United Way management.
Who you are:
- Knowledge of the scope and activities of public and private health and social service agencies, faith-based organizations and public assistance programs specifically in Forsyth County and neighboring counties.
- Experience with data gathering techniques including oral interviews to compile resource information.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, solve problems and improve systems.
- Must possess a high degree for attention to detail with excellent proofreading skills.
- Strong technical facility with Microsoft Office, databases, and other software systems.
- Must have access to a car, active driver's license and car insurance. The VISTA will be reimbursed at the current IRS rate for mileage outside of the daily commute to and from work. Reimbursement will be made each month by UWFC
- Results-oriented and maintains high moral and ethical standards.
- Self-motivated
Education:
- Some secondary education desirable
- Experience in human services such as nonprofit, public administration and/or community research is preferred
