United Way of Forsyth County announces positions for VISTA Volunteers. These volunteer opportunities are one-year, full-time (35-40 hrs. per week) volunteer positions with compensation of a modest bi-weekly living allowance of approximately $1,116 per month. VISTA Volunteer positions are a perfect fit for part-time students, gap-year students, individuals looking to get back into the workforce and/or involved in the community or retirees. At the end of the one-year of service, the VISTA member will have the opportunity to receive an educational award of approximately $6,500 (to be used toward student loans or specific educational expenses) or an end of service cash stipend of $1,800.

Program Coordinator for Early Learning VISTA
The Opportunity:
The Program Coordinator for Early Learning VISTA will promote early childhood education and oversee the development programs that provide information, activities and opportunities to teach the importance of early language in brain development and practical ideas to turn everyday moments into learning opportunities for toddlers and young children.
What you'll do:
- Become familiar with the work of United Way of Forsyth County and our community partners
- Research the importance of early childhood development and tools to promote early childhood learning
- Train to be a coach for early learning programs
- Develop a listing of targeted partners in the community that interact with new and expectant parents including nurses, pediatricians, WIC nutritionists, early learning educators, etc.
- Provide training to targeted community partners on how to coach families to provide babies with the "language nutrition" to support early brain development
- Promote early childhood development programs to the community
- Keep an accounting of activity related to partner recruitment and training and the number of children impacted by programming
- Recruit volunteers to assistance with distribution and maintenance of materials and information related to early childhood learning programs
Resource Development VISTA
The Opportunity:
The Resource Development VISTA will serve to build capacity within the organization in order to support programs such as education initiatives focused on early childhood development.
What you'll do:
- Become familiar with the work of United Way of Forsyth County and our community partners
- Become familiar with education initiatives focused on early childhood development
- Plan community events to promote and secure financial support for education initiatives focused on early childhood development
- Research and seek out grant opportunities to secure additional financial support for early childhood development and learning programs
- Keep an accounting of the activity related to grant writing and fundraising efforts in support of programs focused on early childhood development and learning programs.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with fundraising events including those to support educational initiatives focused on early childhood development and learning programs.
